NM-series normalized centrifugal pumps not only have a special place in Calpeda’s history, but are also the perfect expression of the company’s DNA because of their reliability and customizability.
These flanged centrifugal electric pumps, made with main dimensions and performance according to EN 733, cover many industrial and civil applications. They are suitable for the operation of heating, air conditioning, cooling and circulation systems, but are also ideal for irrigation systems.
These pumps are designed and manufactured to ensure a long service life, even when operating under severe conditions. This is thanks to the research that has always supported product development and the very high quality of each component.
Our range of normalized centrifugal pumps includes several series, each consisting of models of different sizes to cover specific market needs. In addition to this Calpeda can also provide customization with particularly fast delivery times. Special executions include, for example, the realization of the stainless steel impeller, which we discussed in a recent article, ideal for industrial applications where high resistance is required.
NMS centrifugal pump family grows
Along with the NM series of close coupled centrifugal pumps, Calpeda also produces the NMS series, centrifugal electric pumps in stub shaft construction. It is precisely to this type of product that the latest upgrade of the range has been dedicated.
With the aim of responding effectively to market demands, it was decided to make a significant expansion of the series toward smaller powers than those already available.
To give an idea of the significance of this expansion, just think that the NMS series has increased from 200 to 630 items. All sizes of the corresponding one-piece 2 and 4-pole, 50 and 60HZ versions from DN 32 to DN 150 are now available. In this way Calpeda is currently able to offer with its NMS a complete range of applications, ranging from large industrial plants to smaller ones.
The strengths of our centrifugal stub shaft pumps
Being normalized pumps, NMS have pump casing with axial suction and radial delivery on top, main dimensions and performance according to EN 733.
Regarding the stub shaft construction, it is important to note that it is designed to ensure the widest freedom of motor choice.
NMS pumps, in fact, can be coupled with standard IE3 motors, with special IE4 motors, and with motors that comply with the American and Canadian UL-CSA standards. The customer can therefore count on a very versatile product, both in terms of efficiency classes and compatibility with international standards.
A distinguishing feature of NMS centrifugal pumps, compared with other stub-shaft construction pumps on the market, is the integrated thrust bearing. This design feature makes the pump perfectly balanced as to axial thrust.
The customer is thus facilitated because no additional dimensioning is required to calculate the surcharge to be applied to the motor bearing and ensure optimal product operation. The thrust bearing on the coupling supports the hydraulic thrust of the pump, allowing no additional loads to be generated on the motor bearings, thus preserving their life.
